Harris in Guatemala and Mexico, first trip abroad. The vice president makes her debut away from home

(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, JUN 2 – US Vice President Kamala Harris makes her debut on the international stage, with her first trip to Guatemala and Mexico, from 6 to 8 June. The focus will be on reducing migration flows to Central America, which is one of the first assignments received by Joe Biden.
Harris’s portfolio is progressively expanding: the leadership of the task force pro unions, the campaign against hesitation towards vaccines, the promotion of women in the world of work, the spread of broadband in the country and, yesterday, the lorra against attempts to limit the vote of minorities. So far, however, the vice president has remained somewhat in the shadows compared to Biden, without ever piercing the screen or uttering memorable sentences.

Dear Hon. Merlo,
does not think that the attitude assumed by his movement on the occasion of the consultation for the constitution of the Conte 3 government, proposing himself as a builder in the interest of the country, and his silence in the parliamentary halls on the occasion of the appointment of the current president of the Consiglio Draghi, could they have caused negative repercussions for the future of Italian emigration? He does not believe that, also due to our manifested inability and limitations, we have come to delineate that perimeter ourselves, limited to ordinary management by reflex without any prospect, inducing us to a form of self-victimization, which prevents Italian emigration from being recognized and get that role he deserves? He does not believe that his activism highlighted during the recent government crisis, with his frantic search for a “strategic” positioning of his movement, albeit legitimate in a strictly egocentric perspective, could it be one of the causes and could it have led to a further retreat of our position? Don’t you think that the lack of visibility and the consequent demonstration of an intrinsic incapacity of our representation in the parliamentary sphere has contributed to “sawing up” the post of undersecretary? could it be one of the causes and could it have led to a further retreat of our position? Sen. Ricardo Merlo president of MAIE
He does not think that one of the major causes that bind us in this situation of subordination will be because we have not yet been able to express our needs, to represent them, to propose suitable solutions and visions, as we have shown, moreover, also in Parliament recently? How come, Hon. Merlo, those lion roars, issued through the Italian press abroad, even by his colleagues, have never found an outlet even in the parliamentary halls, as in this last circumstance, to highlight, as you maintain, that the IMU is an unfair and unjust tax on the home of Italians abroad and which should be abolished as such ‘? How come, Hon. Merlo, after so many years, even as undersecretary, have you not been able to achieve this goal? Meanwhile, the people you represent suffer it, those whom you consider victims of an injustice. Among other things, however, I am not aware of concrete acts in this regard, especially also on the part of your movement, which demonstrate and lead us to believe that everything in your powers has been done to achieve a concrete result in favor of everyone in this sense. I only remember the euphoria and resourcefulness of the sen. Fantetti who triumphalistically informed the parliamentary hall that he had obtained 50% of the reduction of the IMU in favor of Italian pensioners abroad, failing to say that this measure does not involve all pensioners but only those under the convention. Why is it that you who wanted to save the country by helping to rebuild it still make your electorate succumb to this injustice? Now we mourn the lack of an elected abroad in the Draghi government, we complain that we have been forgotten, we promise to continue to defend the Italians, we are already seeing negative signs from the new government, etc. Will it all be the fault of the others? Or is it necessary to remind ourselves that: “Who is the cause of his illness weep himself”? Best regards . You continue to persist in your silence, like most of your colleagues, meanwhile I continue to exercise my sacred right to express my point of view and my criticism, hoping for the collaboration of the Italian press indicated in the address, and in particular di italiachiamaitalia, to disseminate it, hoping that it will be reconciled with the current editorial needs of the latter. we are already seeing negative signs from the new government, etc. Will it all be the fault of the others?
